Concert Review: HAYLA at Emo's in Austin
Review & Photos by Victoria Allen
HAYLA delivered a very rhythmic performance at Emo's in Austin, Texas on August 22nd! The stop was one of many on her highly anticipated DARK tour. The tour setlist featured a new style of sound from HAYLA - Something that blends her soft, ethereal vocals with a darker tone. Fans packed in and surrounded the barricades quickly once the doors opened.
Ella Rosa opened the concert for the night with some electrifying tunes. She is a UK singer & songwriter with a background rooted in opera singing. She now resides in Los Angeles and creates music that blends pop and club beats to form unique, futuristic sounding music. The setlist for the night included some popular hits like "y u?" and she added some variety playing songs like "Lobotomy" and "Rain." Ella Rosa released a few new singles this year and I highly recommend checking them out!
As fog engulfed the entire space at Emo's under the subtle low lighting, HAYLA made her way to the stage in a black, gothic two-piece outfit. The finishing element was an epic silver chain necklace that tied the whole look together with the overall dark vibe. The Grammy nominated, British singer and songwriter is famously known for creating electronic dance tunes! Cheers erupted in the room as HAYLA sang hit after hit. As the night carried on, fans danced, sang along, and waved their lights in support of the iconic artist. HAYLA was beyond stoked to share her new music as she's been looking forward to revealing her latest songs live!
HAYLA performed many classics alongside her new tracks. The crowd couldn't contain their excitement when "Without You" was performed. The original song was a collaboration with famous Norwegian DJ, Hygo, and the tune had everyone dancing and hyped behind the barricades. The lively momentum was maintained throughout the night as HAYLA sang her two biggest chart-toppers, "Where You Are" and "Shiver." She included a taste of everything from her discography with songs like "Freefall" and "Fall Again" before closing the show with her new song "Dark." The newly released song hints at the direction HAYLA's new album, DARK, is going for. If you find the haunting ambiance and captivating vocals addicting, you can explore the rest of the DARK album on music streaming platforms.
It was amazing hearing HAYLA's new music live and many attendees agreed as they begged HAYLA for one final song before wrapping up the show. She stuck around briefly to speak with some fans and sign merch, which was incredibly thoughtful! There are a few stops left in the DARK tour, which will wrap up in Los Angeles on September 4th. Grab your tickets now as her concert is definitely an experience you don't want to miss out on!
