Concert Review: The Living Tombstone in San Antonio

‍ ‍Review & Photos by Victoria Allen

The Living Tombstone brought their Multiplayer Tour to the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio, Texas on October 14th. Excited fans arrived early which led to an incredible line wrapping around the outside of the theater and down the block. Picture hundreds of fans dressed as various pop culture characters (*cough, cough* Five Nights at Freddy's cough) referencing many notable songs the Living Tombstone are known for creating. It was a fun sight to see. To put the candle on top of Chica's cupcake - CG5 was opening for the night!

CG5 recently joined the Living Tombstone's tour to showcase some hit classics as well as tease “I DON’T LIKE YOU,” which is a new release from his latest album, Gamer. The new album includes 13 incredible tracks and I highly encourage everyone to give it a listen. I, along with many in the crowd, was very surprised to hear CG5 perform an epic cover of Tears for Fears', "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." That wasn't the only fun cover he decided to include into his set. He also did a playful rendition of JT Music's "Join Us For a Bite" and "Your Idol" by the Saja Boys from the movie, K-Pop Demon Hunters. Having CG5 join the tour with the Living Tombstone was a fantastic combo! Both groups are known for creating impactful music across many fandoms.

For the uncultured and employed folks, The Living Tombstone is a wildly popular internet band known for making music for the chronically online. The Los Angeles based, electronic rock initially formed in 2011 and went viral a multitude of times for creating songs centered on the Five Nights a Freddy's franchise. Over the years, the group has produced songs for various gaming and cartoon fandoms which has secured them a dedicated fan base. Because of the key factor, many fans in attendance dressed as characters of their favorite fandoms. Performing in San Antonio was really special because the band knows there is a significant amount of supporters in the city! They took a moment near the end of the set to share several stories and thank the fans for always being there to show their support.

Longtime fans and newcomers got a taste of everything during this concert. The band teased fans with their unreleased song, “Under the Sun.” The song is set to be released on their upcoming album, Armstrong. There wasn’t a single second where the crowd wasn’t either cheering, dancing, or singing along with the band. It was incredible to see and experience live! The Living Tombstone's performed my personal favorite song, “No Mercy.” The single was released back in 2017 and blew up rapidly on TikTok leading to countless memes and dance trends. In the spirit of Halloween, the group performed a cover of Andrew Gold’s “Spooky Scary Skeletons,” which had fans dancing both in the pit and in the upper levels. The band saved their 4 biggest smash hits until the end where they performed “Discord,” “It’s Been So Long,” “My Ordinary Life,” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s.”

The Living Tombstone is currently on tour and tickets are selling fast. The Multiplayer Tour wraps in mid-November.  For attendees, I highly recommend arriving early so you can rush to the merch tables and get the best spot in the pit. This concert is definitely not one you want to miss! Re
