Hilary Duff is back with her second single from her upcoming album ‘luck … or something’ called “Roommates”! As a fan of her since 2003, I’m so happy she’s releasing music again this year. “Roommates” is an incredible pop anthem that feels reminiscent of her older songs such as “So Yesterday.” This song is a breath of fresh air with its upbeat melody and melancholy lyrics. With lyrics such as “I want the highlights 10 out of 10 / The butterflies from holding your hand”, this song expresses the feeling of wanting the happy parts of a relationship and forgetting how it ended. I really love the prechorus where Duff sings, “But life is life-ing / And pressure is pressuring me / Oh, I wish that I could catch you in the right light”. This song is beautifully written and I can’t wait to sing it at the top of my lungs whenever I get to see Hilary Duff live (hopefully soon). I’m thankful that Hilary Duff is still making music because she will ALWAYS be a legend, and it feels like I get to re-live my childhood and relate to her music in a new perspective.
