Qveen Herby & THOT Squad at Moody Theater
Review & Photos by Victoria Allen
EXTRA!! EXTRA!!! READ ALL ABOUT IT! The review for Qveen Herby's Isle of Qveen performance is here!
Fans gathered round the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas on July 17th for Qveen Herby's concert featuring THOT SQUAD as the opening act! The line of people waiting to enter nearly wrapped around the block at the massive theater in central downtown. I arrived 1.5 hours before show time and spoke with excited fans dressed in stunning outfits (some custom and handmade just for the show!) Once doors opened, everyone rushed through the doors and toward their spots.
THOT SQUAD opened for Qveen Herby with a nearly hour long set full of lively music and immensely high energy! Their set involved a 3D light display with THOT SQUAD in all caps. The mic dazzled in reflective tiles and the stand was held up with a massive squishy Peep plush. I was unfamiliar with THOT SQUAD's music, but not for much longer.
Let's talk first look and entrance: Gorgeous pink roses printed in bangs contrasted with fluffy white afro. The first outfit was a black corset layered over a cute white top with puff sleeves. The pink skirt truly complimented the rose print design. The true show stopper was the black and white high heel boots worn throughout the show. The look was topped off with a brilliant bedazzled tie. Unlike the soft outfit, THOT SQUAD's music is far from sweet and soft. They came out with a short introduction followed by one of their popular 2025 singles, ABANDON HIM. Immediately after, a strong beat kicked in as they sang their high energy hit, BSTFU (B**** Shut the F*** Up). The iconic song was released as a single in 2024. The song really set the tone for not only THOT SQUAD but also Qveen Herby as the momentum and hype carried throughout the night.
For those new to THOT SQUAD, they are a rapper and songwriter also known as Blvck Bunnie. THOT SQUAD launched their music career back in 2022 but went viral after appearing as Prism in the highly popular 2025 video game, Dispatch. THOT SQUAD's music is extremely energetic and raw, often filled with explicit lyrics and blunt messages. The melodies are always catchy and easy to dance to so if you need more party music you may have just discovered your next favorite artist. THOT SQUAD is highly involved with pop culture and fandom - From video games like Kirby to cartoons like Steven Universe, THOT SQUAD is not afraid to express their nerdy side and makes it a well known part of their brand. WE LOVE!
Shortly into their set, THOT SQUAD played their number one single “HOES DEPRESSED” along with many more fan favorites. They shed the initial pink skirt to reveal a custom skirt made completely out of ties. The corset was ditched which showed off more of the cropped white blouse. There was not a single dull moment in the set. THOT SQUAD pumped out banger after banger performing a mix of popular hits and some older classics such as the 2025 single BUM B*TCH and their 2023 single, PAUSE. Their music was impossible to resist dancing to and not a soul in the audience was trying to resist.
THOT SQUAD's genuine display of personality and realness makes them a total gem - Speaking of gems, they threw in a fun cover of "Stronger Than You" from Steven Universe, which was a popular show that aired on Cartoon Network from 2013 to 2019. I wasn't expecting to hear so many nostalgic songs at this show, but both sets were full of surprises. THOT SQUAD doesn't hold back on anything, especially not energy! Throughout the majority of the hour long set, they were running across the stage, telling funny stories and hyping up the crowd - All while wearing high heel boots mind you!
About midway into the set, they ditched the heeled boots and jumped onto the barricade to perform up close and personal with fans. The moment had everyone going absolutely crazy! Fans were jumping up and down while chanting along with the song. Once back on stage, pom poms went up in the air as they continued their performance. THOT SQUAD came on stage and didn't just perform but also cooked, served and ate - POUND CAKE!
Here's the exclusive recipe to make the perfect POUND CAKE:
1 High Energy Performance
5 Jumbo Peeps
1,000's of Screaming Fans
1 Unforgettable Night
Mix all those things together and garnish it with a killer personality as the cherry on top and BOOM! The results: One electrifyingly, high energy performance and the perfect pound cake. The single POUND CAKE released in 2023 and remains their second highest hit.
THOT SQUAD's set had the perfect balance of energy and entertainment! The fun outfits were just the icing on the cake!~
Qveen Herby
5.....4....3...2..1!
Blow out the candles cause it's time to set sail to the Isle of Qveen! There was an iconic countdown featuring a sailor and a... bedazzled dragon to hype up the crowd before making Herby's set. Usually those two things together would feel out of place but not at the show for the CEO of Whimsy. The lights dimmed and Herby stepped out to tease the start of her set with a dramatic intro that involved her cloaked behind a white screen. The intro added a little mystery as she left the stage only to return cruising in on a massive ship. The waves were treacherous - From the crowd, that is, as the entire space filled with excited cheers!
Captain Herby stepped off the ship in fiery red boots while dressed in a stunning hot pink, nautical coat. With a pair of binoculars - Herby was ready for an adventurous performance in Austin. She completed the look with a cute, sparkling sailor hat and kicked off her set with Vitamins from the 2019 release, EP 7. The volcano on set wasn't the only thing erupting tonight as the crowd erupted in excitement! The song had everyone instantly hyped as the whole theater started chanting along with Qveen Herby. With lights flashing and everyone singing from the top of their lungs, it was an epic start to her set.
Under the captain coat, was hidden outfit #2 which was a sleeveless sailor style red top with black stripes lined with gold buttons. A black ruffled skort finished the stylish attire. Qveen Herby brought THOT SQUAD back to stage to sing The Fool together. The song is featured on Noonan's newest album and features both artists. The upbeat song contains playful, explicit lyrics with a whimsical club style melody. The song is direct and very self expressive. It had everybody singing and dancing in the crowd from the first level all the way to the third level balcony. Thank Goddess was played after and kept the energy going. Fans came ready to sing along and even those in the crowd less familiar with certain songs were swaying and dancing throughout the show. There wasn't a single empty seat in sight and the main floor remained packed by overjoyed fans!
For those uncultured and out of the loop of Qveen Herby's lore (*whispers* Like myself a week prior to the show). Before debuting as a solo artist under the name Qveen Herby back in spring of 2017, Amy Noonan and her husband Nick Noonan were a pop duo pair, famously known as Karmin. They had many hits but their most well-known song was "Brokenhearted" which went triple platinum on 14 year old me's personal playlist back in 2012. A special shortened version of the iconic hit was played during her set in Austin, which was a wild throwback tune to hear live! The song began with Noonan playing a ukulele version. After singing the first few verses with the audience, suddenly the original melody track kicked in and everyone went wild.
My favorite set change happened when Captain Herby disappeared and transformed into Qveen Herby, Mermaid of the Seas for outfit change #3. She floated back on stage in a jaw-dropping shimmering black and white mermaid tail while seated in a gold, jewel encrusted seashell throne! The full look and set during this portion of the show was a direct reference to the beautiful cover of her latest album, Isle of Qveen. One of the more memorable moments of the night occurred when Herby sang the 2022 song, “F Myself”, to a sea of shining lights waving in the audience. The song was released on the album, MAD QVEEN and while the chorus may contain obscene lyrics, the melody is slowed down making it sound more chill. The overall message of the song is to love yourself, which makes the lyrics a bit more humorous. It was incredible to see 3-floors filled with fans swaying and singing along with Herby. The highlight of the night was a nearly 3 min long ovation that followed after the song ended. Qveen Herby could only sit and take in the moment that left her speechless!
She shed her mermaid tail and revealed #4 which was a cute short black skirt. The transformation happened as the melody for Mission slowly kicked in. The upbeat song was released on EP9 in 2020. Shortly after, the red lighting flooded the room before switching to flashing as the energy was cranked to the max and Noonan sang her hit song Sugar Daddy from the 2020 EP8. Every moment of the concert felt like an awesome party! The set included many popular and classic songs like Sade In the 90s from EP3 and Abracadabra from the 2021 album, Halloqveen.
Qveen Herby rocked a lot of styles for the night and the finale look was one of my favorites. Her 5th outfit change featured a gorgeous ruched red skirt with a matching red crop top. To add a bit more flare, the look also featured blue ruffled sleeves that really flowed together. The red summer style hat and signature black and white striped bag completed the vacation style beach look. She sang High Priestess from her new album. Noonan had the audience singing along during certain parts of the song, but at the end she had the crowd fully hyped to do their loudest cheer of the night. The cheering rang out for a solid 30 seconds filling each floor in the theater with a ringing of cheers!
Qveen Herby committed to the set design and story. Her full set was about 1.5 hours long and during that time, she featured many songs from the new Isle of Qveen album and included many fan favorites as well. She had 5 fantastic outfit changes - All of which were nautical and beach themed. The set was simplistic, yet very intentional and creative. Each prop and decor built the story of the Isle of Qveen. From sailing on a ship then later transforming into a mermaid to relaxing in summer wear on the beach and ending with a BOOM (There was a volcano eruption!) Every element of the epic set played into the theme and was a perfect design for summer!
Noonan said her thank you closing speech to Austin as the concert came to an end. You would think that's where the show ended but the fans weren't done - The island had spoken and everyone wanted more! Qveen Herby delivered one final song wrap up the night one the greatest note. As the volcano erupted with smoke, Qveen sang her iconic 2026 hit single Overnight to close out the Austin performance. It was the perfect way to say bon voyage to everyone as we left the isle for the night and Herby sailed to her next tour stop.
The show was well... Sensational, which is another tune from Qveen Herby's recent album that was performed during the night but I can't spoil all the details. You'll have to grab a ticket and see the other surprises yourself. THOT SQUAD and Qveen Herby's music flows well together. Both artists have a nice collection of fun music that combines raw lyrics with addictive melodies. Austin is only the second stop in the Isle of Qveen tour, so check out her socials and official website to see if Qveen Herby is sailing to shows near you! Bon Voyage~
