Off Campus is Amazon Prime Video’s new hit show based on the book series written by Elle Kennedy, and I’m obsessed with it. Season One is an adaptation of the book, The Deal, starring Belmont Cameli as Garrett Graham and Ella Bright as Hannah Wells. The story follows Garrett and Ella as they make a deal to fake date each other so that Garrett can ace his class from being tutored by Ella, and Ella can win over her crush, Justin Heauston.

‍ ‍What I love about this show is that it’s not only about romance, but also about the love and power of friendship. The hockey team always shows up for each other no matter what, and Allie and Hannah have heartfelt moments where they open up and show how much they genuinely care about each other. The entire friend group just makes you want to be a part of it, and I admire how this series conveys that tight knit sense of community and joyful humor. This series also expresses healthy communication in relationships, which is so important. I was laughing and crying the entire time! I also love how this show incorporates Hannah’s passion for music and how she and Garrett connect with each other by showing each other their favorite artists and songs. For example, Garrett looked up the band, The Beaches, because Hannah mentioned that she loves them. It’s so sweet and all music lovers will absolutely be hooked on this show, plus the soundtrack is amazing and will make you want to dance. Another aspect I admire about this show is how it truly embodies early 2000’s romcoms from including shots such as split screens, quirky dialogue, and a hilarious friend group who has each other’s backs. You can’t help but be drawn into these endearing characters who have insanely great chemistry.

Off Campus is a truly special series and deserves all the hype! Many people can connect to it, whether it’s through the characters’ personalities or hardships, romantic relationships, or friendships. And of course, who wouldn’t want a man like Garrett Graham? All the men in the show are literally written by a women – They’re incredibly respectful and caring (I totally blame fictional men for my high standards). It’s no surprise that this show has surpassed 36 million viewers worldwide within its first 12 days since it premiered on May 12th.

‍ ‍Out of all the romance series I’ve watched and read about, Off Campus is definitely my favorite series and I’m already so excited for Season Two, which will focus on Allie and Dean as the main characters. Watch the series created by Louisa Levy on Amazon Prime Video and make sure to read the books by Elle Kennedy!
